Justin’s
mix marks the first in Distinct’ive’s latest mix series which is
meant to facilitiate the DJ and producer. It’s DJ skills meet studio
production skills.
To
be representative of his residencies (Bugged Out, Remedy and Headstart),
24 tracks have been selected, cut up and mixed. From the funky sounds of
house to the manic barrage of techno. Some would call it tech-house.
Listed twice is Oneiro’s ‘Shhh’ which essentially is the same
track cut up for the mix. Gaetano Parisio’s ‘Chapter One’ brings
up the pace as the beats get harder and into the groove of Phil
Kieran’s ‘The Bomb’.
Peppered
with tracks by Jamie Anderson (‘Can’t Stop V2.0’, ‘Cut ‘n’
Paste’, ‘Vicious Circle’) and Umek (‘Cartex’, ‘Dotax’, ‘Umek’),
the mix is tight with a smooth and balanced flow of rhythm and funk
without taking away its hard tech edge. The mix is brought to a close
with the sinister rhythms of ‘The Aftermath’.
