GATECRASHER – DISCOTECH GENERATION (INC-REDIBLE)

 

Disc one is meant to prepare you for the ‘Sonic Heaven’. Hybrid’s remix of F.S.O.L’s classic Papau New Guinea gives it a harder edge and is a nice start to the mix. One that is tight and all about groove and being progressive.  “When the room is quiet and daylight’s almost gone it seems there is something I should know……” Spooky vocals on the aptly titled ‘Ghost’. Getting deeper in the mix are Starecase’s ‘Hopeless’ and Max Graham’s ‘Falling Together’. Blaze’s funky ‘My Beat’ precedes a turn towards a selection of uplifting trance.

The harder edge disc two invites you to “join the discotech generation’. Having the funky and groovy vibes of ‘She Rides’ is inviting. Long time Spundae (San Francisco) resident, Jerry Bonham gets a feature with his track ‘Erendira’. Lost It.Com’s ‘Animal’ raises the roof with ‘oakie trance’ (affectionately described as it was the style championed by Paul Oakenfold. Brings back memories). This is certainly the tranceier of the two disc while the first was more focused on a progressive mix

This compilation is a prelude to Gatecrasher’s summer event – Sound System 2001. Expected turnout? 40,000 clubbers from across the globe!
