RENAISSANCE: DESIRE- Mixed by Dave Seaman

Desire. Dave Seaman’s long awaited follow-up to ‘The Awakening’. And third release in Renaissance’s Masters Series (the second – ‘Ibiza’ was mixed by Deep Dish).

Disc one opens with a percussive beat in A Guy Called Gerald’s ‘Humanity’ before a funky ‘Struggle For Pleasure ‘ by Minimalistics. The mix builds with several vocal tracks including Science Dept’s latest production, ‘Breather’, featuring the vocals of Erire. From there on the tempo picks up and the mix get tighter. Sister Bliss’ ‘Deliver Me’ and Sputnik’s ‘Stylus Trouble’ are two anthems currently working the clubs. Tom Middleton’s mix of ‘Ruhe’ with its groovy and “bouncy’ bass rounds up the first mix.

Disc two, the tigher mix of the two also has a deeper and darker feel. Elisium’s ‘Part One’ lends some groove to the mix with Nat Monday’s ‘Waiting’ providing some trippy efxs. Slacker’s ‘Musifon’ is just one of a few unreleased productions (at time of the compilation’s release) featured in the mix. Dave’s use of acapellas add a different dimension to tracks at hand. One example is an acapella of Placebo’s ‘Passive Aggressive’ over Digby & Oliver’s ‘Oracle’. A minimalistic tune gone eerie. Having reached a high, the mix is brought down with Way Out West’s latest offering in ‘Mincircus’ featuring lush vocals by Tricia Lee Kelsall
